Spacious and Chic: Michelle's Master Bedroom!

When Michelle first asked me to design her master bedroom, I knew I wanted to do a look that was both calm and sophisticated. Combining soft greys and creams with luxe accessories made for a space that is comfortable for Michelle and her husband, and has plenty of unique touches to perfectly describe their style!

The large size of this bedroom allowed us to install some really eye-catching features. Extra tall bead board paneling makes the ceilings appear even higher and helps draws the eye up to the fantastic wallpapered ceiling.

With the paneling and wallpaper installed, this room really called for some awesome furniture choices! I custom designed several pieces for Michelle from Newport Cottages and we choose a soft white for the finish. I also added some delicate glass pulls to complete the look. Now, this couple has plenty of storage via their new bedside tables, dresser and highboy.

 Next up, choosing just the right fabrics. The carpeting in the room has a small diamond pattern that was fun to mix with other larger scale prints.

I love the antique look of this chair and ottoman, especially recovered in a fun, new fabric!

I carried the diamond pattern over into the custom bedding to help to tie the room together. I also added a fresh floral for the euros and duvet, and then a crisp stripe for the bolster.

Now for the accessories! A special touch by the bed are these glass ball lamp bases, they're subtle but also provide a little glam.

 A tufted bench was a must for the end of the bed. Benches are always great because they provide a comfy spot to put on your shoes in the morning, or a place to set extra pillows. I love the dark beige upholstery and how it helps to anchors the piece in the room.

This table is so unique and fits so effortlessly into the space. It is one of my favorite features in the room. I love adding something a little unexpected and this metal side table is just right!

A few more glamorous accents were in order for the dresser area, as well as a full length mirror for the room. Loving the style of this decorative sunburst mirror!

Elka's Master Bedroom Oasis

As you may have noticed, here at the Bungalow we have really been branching out into designing not only rooms for kids, but the whole house!

My latest home project has just been completed and I have to say it is one of my favorites...

My client Elka is one of the sweetest people you will ever meet, and working on her daughter Paulina's room last year was such a fun collaboration. I was so excited to work with her again!

For Elka's master bedroom, we knew we wanted a calm and soothing oasis but also a dramatic departure from its slightly dark and Tuscan look.

 In order to still blend with the rest of her home, and please Elka's vibrant color loving husband, we chose to make several, powerful design changes to the space.

The most fantastic of which was this custom moulding, and the soft grey-blue paint we chose for the walls.

The colors and design perfectly describe Elka's taste, and the modern look of the chair rail moulding is a touch that completely transforms the room.

The lovely mirrors and glass bead lamps are just ornate enough to complement the bedside chests without taking away from their incredible detail!

Deciding on the custom bedding for this space was another great experience, so many different patterns of blues and grey's to choose from! I love the looks we chose.

 The soft velvet flocking on this cream and pale blue print made it an easy choice for the shams and the duvet cover.

For the end of the bed, we found the perfect mirrored bench and upholstered it in a complementary grey. I love how the lattice print on the soft blue rug  echoes the prints and patterns throughout the room.

To help it blend better into the space, we also reupholstered Elka's comfy chair and placed it by the sliding glass door with a few of her custom pillows.
