Beach Bungalow Brings Cabo San Lucas Home!

So many projects, so little time to post!
I'm so excited to share my latest completed project- a Cabo San Lucas inspired family room for Elka!
Elka has an amazing, spacious living space at the heart of her home, but it really needed a new color scheme to brighten it up a bit. The transformation was amazing!

Here's a shot of the finished product:

And here are a few shots of Elka's room before:
A sofa recovery was number one on the list. I had it recovered in a soft, sand hued fabric then
refurbished by adding arms and decorative nailheads.  Can't forget new custom pillows! I went with fun blue and white patterns (also Elka's signature favorites) for a crisp, cool look.

Custom upholstered ottomans were the next addition, as well as a large Restoration Hardware coffee table.
Before, Elka's living space seemed slightly unbalanced:
The size of the new table, combined with the extra seating of the ottomans, help to better balance the scale of the large room.

Love these ottomans!

More gorgeous details! I love the chic look of the silver coated lamp base and the extra sheen and cool shape of the lacquer end tables.

Blue and white pottery was a must in this space and I absolutely love the pieces we chose together!

Elka had an existing sofa table that wasn't quite the right fit, but by accessorizing with the perfect pieces, it became another awesome design feature in the room.
Here's a quick look at the sofa table pre-accesorizing:
...and after!

Another area where a major transformation was in order was above the fireplace, it just wasn't doing such a large space justice or reflecting Elka's refreshing personal style.
Lauren created an incredible custom piece that perfectly complements the room. Such gorgeous colors and not to mention one-of-a kind!

This lovely seating area has to be one of my favorite aspects of the design, I love the light coming through the glass doors and the tropical look of the comfy chairs and pillow patterns.

Another truly fun install, Elka is always a joy to work with:) We are also both thrilled with the fact that she now has her own Cabo San Lucas getaway- right in her very own living room!

Garage Makeover Complete! A Science & Art Room With Major Wow Factor

Several weeks ago I posted about making over a client's garage space into a Science and Art classroom and playroom for her granddaughters.

I am pleased to announce that the project was a success! Janelle and her family couldn't be happier with their bright, colorful Science and Art room!

The cabinet turned out beautifully! There is plenty of counter space for projects, and easy to reach storage for the girls.

I absolutely love the shade of yellow we chose for the paneling. We also made sure to install sleek and simple handles with no sharp edges, that would also be easy for the girls to use.
Check out all the neat accessories Janelle purchased for activities!
Another special design feature on this cabinet is the open shelving on the left hand side. Here we were able to display more books, tools and toys for the girls to enjoy.

This Land of Nod play table was the perfect addition to the space. I love the modern design as well as the rich colors of the teak table top and chairs. They provide a comfy and cute place for the girls to draw or practice their science experiments!

To soften the floor beneath the table, I chose a fun and eye-catching orange chevron rug from Rug Market. We also painted the cement garage floor a bright white to make the space feel less like a garage and more like a part of the house.

One challenge of this space was making it feel enclosed and safe without needing to keep the garage door closed. Janelle found some awesome folding screens that she liked and we placed a new KidKraft easel and several of Janelle's own items to block to door.
Shelly the skeleton is also there to keep an eye on things:)

To add pops of orange and red I found these great floral wall decals online. We affixed them to the white space beneath the cabinets and on the garage columns to help incorporate them into the design.

One of my favorite parts of this room is the butterfly art cable system where the girls can display their beautiful art work.

A simple and sweet bookshelf puts the finishing touch on the room, and provides even more space to store things like paint and puzzles.
I love thinking about all the fun that Janelle and her granddaughters will have in this special, creative place. I can't believe it used be just a regular garage before!
