Modern Simplicity With A Little Sunshine

Modern Simplicity was the description that Sarah gave me when we first began to discuss creating this room. This was my second time working with Sarah. Our first room together was very bold and carried a distinct theme of murals throughout.

This time, we used the subtly sweet theme of 'You are my sunshine.'
We found some inexpensive, simple white frames from Aaron Brothers to display artwork found on Etsy.com

The Devon Collection from Newport Cottages fit perfectly into our design concept. The white and grey color combination on his dresser was exactly what we needed for this room. We selected a larger dresser so that Parker will be able to grow with it.

A custom glider is always a Beach Bungalow Designs signature piece! We covered this one in a soft grey chenille - a texture that is comfy and classic.

The 'P' canvas was created by Lauren using a bold yellow chevron pattern. She glued on the wooden P for added dimension.

Custom bedding completed this look and added more color to the room. I love the buttercup ties!

All four walls were painted in a grey and white horizontal stripe. The stripes are a fun choice but are still subtle enough not to overpower this room.

The playful light fixture and comfy white rug were the perfect accents to finish this room.

We hope you enjoyed checking out this room as much as we did designing it! As always, we are here at the Bungalow to help design the perfect room for your child!

Absolutely Obsessed With Stripes

Right now I am obsessed with stripes! It just may be because we finished this nursery on Friday...here's a sneak peek:)

Use pop of color stripes on the ceiling to create a fun, unexpected visual in the room.

(kikis-list.blogspot.com)
Horizontal is all the rage, but a traditional vertical stripe can still be ultra modern.

Stripes on a rug can help to define a space. Suddenly a simple room can be an exciting expression of color.
(mendcreations.blogspot.com)
There are no rules for stripes regarding size or direction. Sometimes a super small scale can make a very large impact!
(fieldstonehilldesign.com)
Try stripes in different directions for a room that is truly unique.

Or, you can let your stripes have a defining moment. Place a colorful striped fabric on a chair to create a wonderful focal point in the room.

I hope you've been inspired by these amazing images to introduce stripes into your little one's spaces. As always we are here at the Bungalow to help!

A Colorful Nursery Paradise for Evelyn

(Beach Bungalow Designs)
This is the second room we have created for our client Jaime. Although Jaime had originally wanted to use coral and navy in her room, one glance at the colors in this wonderful curtain fabric and the room quickly moved to revolve around raspberry, apple green and a warm yellow.

(Beach Bungalow Designs)
We hand selected a Newport Cottages bookcase with crystal knobs for book storage and room display. I found the bird cages from Restoration Hardware and Jamie took on the project of spray painting them in different colors. The crib is by Newport Cottages as well. The fabric for the crib is a fun vinyl! The vinyl looks like linen, but will be easily washable as a wipe down surface.

This chair is upholstered  in a fun, geometric pattern that compliments the larger curtain fabric. We chose to personalize this sweet pillow and add the pom pom edging for a playful touch.

(Horchow table re-painted)
Jamie found this table from Horchow and we painted it an apple green to compliment the chair.

(Vintage dresser re-painted)
This vintage dresser was painted raspberry and gold hardware was added. The color is another perfect pop in the room! Lauren painted the fun pattern on the main wall, she also added a cute shape over the dresser with the baby's name written inside.

Little Red Riding Hood's Fairy Tale Woodland

{Beach Bungalow Designs}
This whimsical room began when my client decorated a Christmas tree using a Woodland theme for her daughter's nursery.

{ Client's Christmas Tree}

Inspired by the tree, she decided to decorate her daughter's now big girl room with either a Little Red Riding Hood theme or a Woodland Theme with Little Red Riding Hood accents.

In order to compliment the whimsical and bright fabrics used on the bedding, we decided to use something more simple for the window treatments. So, we came up with a neutral khaki gingham with subtle red banding for the accent.

As a personal touch, we added this lovely twig detail. Hanging from the twig using jute twine are letters custom painted to match the fun fabrics used for the bedding.

This cuckoo clock perfectly captured the theme of this room, not to mention the colors! The mushroom detail at the bottom of the clock seemed to perfect.

Check out these custom painted canvases by Lauren! And this white branch light that fits perfectly with our Woodland theme.

Here's a closer look at the tree wall mural with three dimensional jersey cotton flowers and our branch chandelier that reflects a whimsical pattern on the ceiling.

One last look at this wonderful Woodland room, the dollhouse structure of the bookcase looks just like a little Alps cottage. Our custom furniture company made it especially for little Ainsley with red detail to add a more whimsical appeal.

Special thanks to my clients Kyle and Amy for using me to decorate this fun room. And as always we are here at the Bungalow to decorate your child's room! Keep checking back for more custom designs like this Woodland Room with Little Red Riding Hood Accents!
