The Making of A Room: Eloise Edition

Ever wonder how exactly a room is put together? Take a look at the making of this room for Elisabeth's daughter Maddie. She loves Eloise so we kicked off the project by looking at some inspirational rooms that were Eloise themed.

Next up: we devised a layout that would work with the existing space and best incorporate the new furniture.

Newport Cottages Beverly Collection worked great for the look we were envisioning. We chose the right colors for Maddie as well as added custom tufting to the Beverly Bed and transformed it into an adorable daybed.

Next up, more fun! Choosing fabrics that use Maddie's favorite shades of pink in fun patterns!

From there, we found contrasting pink paint colors so that Lauren could paint Maddie's custom monogram on the wall over a very Eloise-like striped pattern.

This room needed a few statement pieces so we found this stunning black chandelier and, my favorite, an amazing black and white patterned rug.

Never forget the impact of accessories! Small, glittery frames added a little extra sparkle to room. For a glamorous touch we picked out several vintage Barbie prints for the walls!

It's All In The Details!

One of the many joys of designing rooms is that there is always room for fun, unexpected details- especially in rooms for children!
It can be as simple as a pop of color, a creative knob or drawer pull, or even an art project that you can do along with your kids:) Take a look at how some of these awesome rooms incorporate those little, extra details that make all the difference.

By covering these cork boards in a bright, eye catching fabric your child now has both a cute place to hang their own artwork and an unexpected pop of color in their study space.

Sometimes those little details can be as simple as replacing the knobs on a dresser with knotted rope.

Be bold! Brightly colored furniture is always at home in kid's rooms and nurseries.

Where else would this flower covered pouf fit in so perfectly? Uniquely beautiful not to mention useful!

I love this map wallpaper! This is a room that can definitely grow with your child.

Subtle details are just as important as the eye catching ones! I love this simple but sweet idea of adding buttons and ribbons to a slipcover rather than just leaving it plain.

Personalize your rooms with framed pages of favorite books! This one uses illustrated poems by Shel Silverstein but this idea can work for any book.

Hope you enjoyed some of my favorite details! If you need some help incorporating those special details into your rooms come visit us at the Bungalow! We're always ready to help you create your dream rooms!

On Safari: Marvelous Murals for Randi's Nursery!

The theme for Randi's boy nursery was truly centered around several beautiful murals by Lauren Heinle featuring jungle animals. The rest of the room simply followed suit!

The corner where a monkey hangs from a tree was the perfect spot for this Hiya crib with natural sides.

For the changing area, Lauren truly outdid herself! I love the watchful expression of the painted lion.

We chose a subtle blue fabric with brown accents for the window treatments. They look great when rolled up, and when fully extended for nap times:)

Lovely Lavender: An Elegant Nursery for Emma

I was so excited when Rachel and Justin chose lavender and pale pink as the color scheme for daughter Emma's nursery:) Lavender and pink are such classic colors for little girl's rooms, it was so much fun to update it a little and really make it their own. The room turned out great with plenty of special touches for soon-to-be-arriving baby Emma!
(Beach Bungalow Designs)

Here are a few before pictures to give you an idea of the space:

The Provence Collection from Newport Cottages fit in perfectly with our design scheme, I love all the ruffled layers on Emma's new crib. The ribbons hanging the custom painted letters perfectly echo the pink ties on the crib.

We customized a Restoration Hardware pinboard to fit in with our color scheme using a lovely lavender fabric and pink grosgrain ribbon to hold photos.

One of my favorite elements in the room would have to be these mirrors that we hung from the wall using pink ribbon. Shannon came up with the amazing idea to cover the nail heads with little crystals;)

We couldn't have found a more perfect rug than this lavender one with white scallop detail. It helped tie the room together and was in keeping with our fun yet classic theme.
